Music and sex essay
Artist do have a moral responsibility for what they present to the public, and they need to be a wear of who there public audience is, because the group of people that listen to their music is the younger generation. Madonna is a well know artists that has been around for years, and she is know for her racie videos and very sexual songs, most of which is inappropriate for her audience and i know this because when i was growing up I loved to listen to her music and watch her videos. the very first one i can remember seeing was, " like a virgan' and being a young impressionable teen I looked up to her, I loved her, and wanted to be her i even dressed like her( of course I had to hide this from my mother). and looking back i realize most of this i should not have been watching Now with things being the way that they are today, and the younger kids being so ready to try anything, I do feel that the artist has a moral responsibility to sensor what they put out. They should be awear of who is listening to their music, and watching there videos because it's the younger generation that mimic everything they see and hear. the artist sets the trends for this generation, all the way down to the clothes, hair, and and the jewelry they wear. All artist should realize that it's their moral duty to take a double look and listen to their own music and decide if they would allow their own children to listen to this and if the answer is no, then they should change it if there undecided or if there answer is yes then they need to reevaluate their own morals and take a good look at how our society has changed for the worse, when it comes to our youth.

While I agree that the artists should be a little more responsible when it comes to how they may influence youth, it may not be entirely up to them. A lot of record companies know that sex sells, so the executives are going to use that tactic to sell records and tickets to concerts. Take a look at Brittany Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry. Sure they all may have some talent (even that fact is debatable), but they all dress the way that the record company wants them to. The music video plots (or lack thereof) are imagined by the executives, not the artists, so of course there is going to be skin, sensuality and sex in there. But if you look at the other end of the spectrum, there are groups that show positive messages in music and videos as well. Some good heavy rock artists such as August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, and MxPx all have videos that focus more on performance than telling any real story. Sure, many of the band members are heavily tattooed, but that is not to say that it is a bad thing. All three of these bands are devoted Christians and the music reflects that, as do the videos. This does not mean that they are going to be in your face with it like the pop artists are with sex; but for those that follow these groups, it can make them re-examine what is important. The reason they play music is for the passion, not for the fame and looking sexy.

ReplyDeletePersonally eight weeks of talking about this stuff is enough! But for the sake of two hundred words here goes. We know it is all about the money that's why "real" artists go on about being a sell-out. But what does that even mean these days? Its cool to have all kinds of sponsor ships. Its about bling bling not the music. What is the mark of achievement for an artist? Would it not being getting paid well for what you do. I guess the sell out comes in the form of what you are willing to do for that money. When they tell you what to or what not to wear(if ya get my meaning). Or what kind of music to produce and do not allow you to do anything else. All by contract of course. I think a sell-out is someone who has turned their backs on God and has embraced this world. We have sold God out and we have the result of that stupidity. Do you not see where those things have gotten us?
ReplyDeleteDon't sell your soul.
Don’t sell out to the devil.
Give your heart to Jesus.
They will have the same opportunity as you. You be wise and come to God.
